Reinout Hellenthal (1979) is an award-winning Dutch producer and director of Indonesian descent, working in the field of short narrative and documentary film. His films are mostly characterised by stories drawn from real life and related to contemporary issues. After studying in Hilversum, he moved to Assen in the north of the Netherlands and started his own production company that primarily focuses on fiction film, documentary, corporate, streaming content and 360-degree video. With a roster of commercial clients worldwide, Reinout has worked for Shell, Samsung, Victoria’s Secret, Hugo Boss, Governors Ball, Cypress Hill Music, Billy Graziadei, Prophets of Rage and Machine Gun Kelly.

Where other producers and film directors are mostly active in the megalopolis in the central-western Netherlands, Reinout prefers to shoot in the less bustling northern region. In 2017 Reinout directed the short drama ‘Something About Alex’ which gathered about 40 awards to date and has been screened at over a hundred film festivals worldwide. Currently, Reinout is working on a feature film called ‘Vrij’ (Free).
